A huge thank you to Pauline who entertained the residents with her harp. The residents had a lovely calming afternoon listening to Pauline's variety of songs before having a cup of tea with Pauline and some of the house volunteers who also attended.
Thank you to Luckenbooth who entertained our residents with a wide variety of music. The residents had a fantastic day enjoying the music and being able to socialize with a cup of tea afterwards.
A huge thank you to Marshall Harkness & Friends who performed for the residents in the Abbeyfield lounge. Residents were treated to a variety of old classics which they enjoyed as always when Marshall visit's.
Thank you to Liz Allen Author of ‘Love Letters from a Desert Rat’ who visited the house to talk to the residents about ‘Dr Elsie Engles – pioneer for lady doctors during WW1’ and stayed to have some tea and chat with the residents afterwards in the Abbeyfield lounge.
A huge thank you to The Jolly B's who performed for the residents in the Abbeyfield lounge. Our residents were treated to a variety of catchy old classics which they enjoyed as always.
Thank you to Yesterdays Pearls who put on a wonderful performance for our residents in the lounge. Yesterdays Pearls played a variety of instruments and what was a very fun and entertaining afternoon even managing to get some of our residents up to dance.
As part of the Strathaven Gala Day preparations Strathaven Pipe Band performed for the residents in the front garden. We are hugely grateful to the pipe band for taking the time to perform for our residents who absolutely loved it.
A huge thank you to our house volunteers who arranged a Christmas Carol concert with the residents singing to carols round the piano. A job very well done by the volunteers who have left the residents in the Christmas spirit ahead of the big day later this week.
A huge thank you to Jackie and Eric Rice who performed for the residents in the Abbeyfield lounge. Residents were treated to a variety of old classics which they enjoyed as always when Jackie and Eric visit.
Thank you to magician Billy Gibson who entertained our residents on Tuesday 19th April with his box of magic tricks. The residents had a fantastic day enjoying the wide variety of wonderful magic tricks Billy performed from card tricks to magical illusions. The residents were spellbound from start to finish.
Thank you to Donna from Craig's Newsagents who hosted an Easter raffle to raise funds for Abbeyfield House. This wonderful gesture raised £130 for the house and unbelievably was also won by one of the residents who was over the moon to receive her prize.
A huge Thank You to Cillia who has begun hosting her gentle exercise class with our residents every second Thursday morning again after a long break during lockdown. The residents have loved the first few of Cillia's classes so much they have already asked if she can put them on regular weekly classes.

Due to the concerning increase of Covid-19 cases in the local area we have decided to unfortunately cancel our Family night for the time being. We hope to rearrange this event again in the not too distant future and will communicate the new details here as soon as they are available. Once again we apologize and thank you for your understanding.
We are hosting our annual friends and family evening in Abbeyfield House on Tuesday 22nd of March at 7pm. This gives our residents family and friends the chance to meet our chairman, staff, other families and of course our delightful residents.
We would like to wish one of our residents a very special happy birthday as she has just recently celebrated her 102nd birthday here at Abbeyfield.
A huge thank you to the Ukulele Sisters Elaine and Anna who entertained our residents with a fantastic musical performance followed by some tea and chat in the Abbeyfield lounge on Monday 28th February. The performance had originally been scheduled for the previous Thursday before heavy snowfall forced the event to be cancelled so we are extremely grateful they were able to fit us in for another date so soon.
The residents celebrated Valentines Day today with a valentines themed lunch. The residents were treated to a lovely two course lunch which they enjoyed, especially their love heart shaped desserts.
Thank you to Pauline Vallance who entertained our residents with her harp as part of their Burns day celebrations. The Residents enjoyed a Burns themed three course meal at lunch before settling down to listen to Pauline's wonderful performance.
We would like to wish our residents, their families, staff, committee and everyone associated with Abbeyfield a happy new year. We look back on what has been a very challenging year with Covid-19 and would like to thank everyone for playing their part in keeping Abbeyfield running as close to normal as possible. On a brighter note we have much to look forward to this year with our Jubilee Project expected to be completed in April which will hopefully see us able welcome new residents to our Abbeyfield family.
